BACT’s 2020 Summer Internship
- On June 22, 2020
For the 6th year, BACT hosted a high school internship program, teaching and working with eager-to-learn students on our preserves. Nine young people from three area high schools participated in the program, which we adapted for social distancing. This year’s program included an online component for students to research daily themes that were introduced in the field. These included: Invasive and Native Plants; Milkweed and Monarchs; Macroinvertebrates and Stream Health; Oak Ecosystems and Biodiversity; and Nature RX. The culminating project was the creation of an online portfolio highlighting observations and lessons learned throughout the week. One of the interns remarked, “I love how this internship is so hands on.”
