For the 5th year, BACT is hosted a high school internship program, teaching and working with eager-to-learn students on our preserves. Nine young people from three area high schools are participated in the program, which we adapted for social distancing. This year’s program included an online component for students to research daily themes that were introduced in the field. These included: Invasive and Native Plants; Milkweed and Monarchs; Macroinvertebrates and Stream Health; Oak Ecosystems and Biodiversity; and Nature RX. The culminating project will be to create an online portfolio highlighting observations and lessons learned throughout the week.
One of the interns remarked, “I love how this internship is so hands on.”
