Environmental Restoration Specialist David Eubanks has restored native ecologies with private landowners, Openlands, Cook County Forest Preserves, the City of Chicago, and the Lincoln Park Conservancy. He’ll share the different requirements of prairie, woodland, and wetland plants, and how to source and maintain the best native wildflowers, grasses, shrubs, and trees for your specific niche. The prescribed burn is done, Earth Day plants are in and the path has fresh mulch!  Join us as we overseed the remainder of the path on this work day. Because we will be working outdoors, we encourage you to wear long sleeves and pants, sturdy closed-toe shoes and gloves if possible.  We also encourage you to bring a reusable water bottle. Please wear a mask and we will maintain safety protocols.  Pederson Preserve is located on Lake Cook Road

Because we will be working outdoors, we encourage you to wear long sleeves and pants, sturdy closed-toe shoes and gloves if possible. We also encourage you to bring a reusable water bottle.   Pederson Preserve is located on Lake Cook Road across from Barrington High School. There is NO parking on the preserve. Please park in the parking lot at Barrington High

Your mission - should you choose to accept it - Invasive Eradication! We will be targeting Queen Anne's Lace, Thistle, Sweet Clover and more! Wear leather gloves if you have them - those thistle thorns are sharp! We will have rubberized gloves available. Because we will be working outdoors, we encourage you to wear long sleeves and pants, sturdy closed-toe shoes. We also encourage you to bring a reusable water bottle. We will provide a water cooler to refill from.

Tending to the Tender Trees!     We planted them at OaktoberFest Now we need to protect them! Anti-Deer Fencing:  We will be installing wire mesh fencing around the sapling oaks and shrubs that we planted during OaktoberFest. No free lunch here, Bambi! Mulch:  Each newly planted oak sapling and native shrub will get a mulch blanket to keep them warm and hydrated this winter.
