2019 Summer Internship Program
- On September 19, 2019
In its fourth summer, BACT’s high school summer internship continues to grow and is in high demand. This year ten students participated from Barrington, Elgin Academy, and William Fremd High Schools.
This educational internship provides a hands-on opportunity to explore, learn, and participate in a variety of scientific methods utilized in the environmental field. These include stream monitoring, invasive and native plant identification, and habitat restoration.
This year we are proud to announce the return of one of our previous summer interns, Henry, who will be the Program Facilitator. Henry, who is a college student at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, attended our summer internship program a few years ago. He is majoring in Urban Forestry and committed to studying natural resources. Henry tells us that the BACT high school summer internship program is what made him decide that he wanted to major in natural resources. Henry’s enthusiasm, fresh ideas, and past leadership experience will be a strong asset to our program.
